To Mr. N - yes BT sucks eggs and the govt is no better...
Griffith University - Get Assed or Get Pied... SNAP!Dear Readers.
Of all the preposterous things I have ever seen in my short 19 years of life...
A U.S soldier was sentenced to 100 years after being found guilty for the rape and subsequent murder of a fourteen year old girl and the murder of her family (the girls mother, father and 6 year old sister). OMG you may mouth as you read this... however, this occured in a small town outside Baghdad in Iraq. Soooo how many of you are going to day "serves em right" or "they should all die"?
Does anyone remember what happened in Vietnam and other dishonourable wars? Didn't our leaders say that it "wasn't going to happen again"? When the war in Iraq is over, are we (Aussies) or are they (Yankees) going to spit on our soldiers? Are we going to have more Woodstocks (hopefully without the bad hair, lack of bras and copious drug consumption) and nation wide peace rallys?
I highly doubt it... but this is what came out of Vietnam and other dishonourable wars.
However, there is one FUNDAMENTAL DIFFERENCE; many of the soldiers who returned from from these dishonourable wars suffered from shellshock (and many committed suicide because of it). Why is this a fundamental difference? Well... think about it for a second - those 5 soldiers involved in the rape of that 14 year old girl PLANNED it. They PLANNED to have the family murdered to cover up what they were PLANNING to do. They collaboratively PLANNED to do something MORALLY and SPIRITUALLY wrong. They didn't even CONSIDER that it was wrong... they didn't even think twice. The ONLY reason they are feeling bad and appologizing is because THEY GOT CAUGHT. They do NOT have a conscience!! All they could say was "sorry mum sorry dad I didn't mean to hurt you". WHERE are the appologies for the Iraqi people?
Fair enough... there is a war going on, riteo, whatever BUT what about the innocence of the fourteen year old girl and her six year old sister?! What about their parents? Weren't the soldiers sent over to keep the peace, protect citizens and defend against terrorists?
These 5 U.S soldiers should be given the death penalty. They were there to keep the peace and protect the citizens from the terrorists but they BECAME the terrorists, THEY deserve to be infront of a firing squad.

HOPE YOU ALL ENJOY YOURSELVES! 9/6/2006 Jeff of the 583 on the 598 Great Circle Line Brisbane Transport BusAh yes... here we are again.
actually i must take a page from mr. nicks blog to create my own. for all those that waste their time reading this and have the priviledge of being acquainted with mr nick would know that he is rather eloquently sufficient when it comes to the conversational topic of brisbane transport. with that in mind, i shall proceed to relay the events of the other morning that have made such a great impression on me.
While stepping onto the wonderful 598 great circle line bus that takes me to garden city most days of the week i happened to be greeted in an unusual manner by the bus driver. In my 18months of experience with brisbane transport and particularly the great circle line buses (598, 599) drivers will NEVER put themselves out to say "good morning", "hello" or any other commonly heard greeting. In most cases you get silence and in the rest, you get a grunt.
On this particular morning, the bus driver said "good morning and how is your morning starting out?". I engaged in short conversation whilst waiting for my ticket and then headed for my usual seat. Throughout the hour long trip I observed this driver greet every passenger and remain calm whenever an old lady poked him with her umbrella (as it had been raining).
Once completing my journey, I was compelled to ask the driver for his name and let him know that I was really appreciative of his superb manners and general compassion for his passengers. He let me know that his name was Jeff (Geoff - whichever) and that he was the driver of the bus numbered 583 which drove on the 598 Great Circle Line bus route on Tuesday when it rained. Go Jeff, you're a credit to your profession!!! |
